Häufig gestellte Fragen zu Sprühdosen

In a 2-component aerosol, as the name suggests, there are 2 components.

In addition to the liquid paint, a hardener is added to the aerosol. This hardener makes the liquid paint more qualitative, more UV-resistant and more chemically resistant.

From the moment the hardener is added, you can only use the product for 48 hours.

A 1-component aerosol  has no added hardener. A 1C spray can is sufficient for a repair. If you want to restore a surface that is mainly exposed to the sun, or that may be under the influence of corrosion (sea, beach), a 2C spray can is recommended.
If you want to paint steel or un(powder)coated metal, you can opt for the DTM (direct to metal) paint, this paint adheres directly to metal or steel without the need for a primer.
If the paint is stored at too low a temperature, the gas can freeze and thicken the paint. As a result, no paint comes out of the can. In this case it is recommended to keep the spraycan at room temperature for 48 hours before use.

After use, the nozzle can be clogged so that no paint comes out of the spraycan. In such a case, we recommend replacing the head and flushing out the line.
First look for the color code via the search bar at the top of our webshop. If you do not have a color code available, it is best to contact the manufacturer of the item you wish to repair.

After entering the color code (first indicate whether it is a RAL color or powder coating color) you will see all available products in the desired color code.

You can then ask yourself whether it concerns a major or minor repair. Depending on the answer, you can choose the desired product (touch-up bottle or pen for small repairs, touch-up spray or paint for large orders)
After sanding with grit P320, degrease with a suitable degreaser (Duthoo Etching Promotor) until the cloth no longer shows any black traces. Use a suitable primer (Duthoo Aptitude Primer BP); do not apply too thickly but until a completely closed film is achieved.
Do not cover until the paint film is completely dry. Otherwise, you run the risk of cloud formation because the solvents have not evaporated everywhere. Packing is possible after 48 hours at 18 ° C.

After spraying, hold the spraycan upside down, empty the nozzle and pipe and store upside down: this will prevent clogging.

Best to store upside down.
Wait 1 to 2 hours and then apply several thin coats at 18 ° C.
Apply in very thin layers. In order to obtain an even appearance on very large or wide surfaces, it is recommended to spray at 30-40 cm from the surface.
Shake the aerosol well and apply to a well degreased surface in order to obtain a better adhesion and if necessary. craters. (e.g. Duthoo Thinner PE)

The cap of the aerosol contains 2 cups: one for a normal round spray and one that can spray both horizontally and vertically by turning the cup.
Spray at 20/25 cm from the object. If you spray less than 20 cm there is a chance that the paint will run. Too far can result in the paint not being distributed properly and feeling rough.
If you apply too much paint you can see an "orange peel" appearance.

Apply in 2 or 3 thin layers. Apply each layer crosswise with an interval of a few seconds.
  • Spraying between 18 and 25 ° C: the lower the temperature, the thicker the paint and the worse the easier bleeds (drip marks).
  • Avoid spraying at too high temperatures or in full sun: if the substrate is too hot above 40 °, the paint may show gas bubbles (bubbles).
  • Spraying at too high a RH (> 60%) can cause white moisture fogging in the paint film if it is applied in too thick layers.
  • Recently sprayed items that have been stored at less than 18 ° C will dry more slowly as the solvents evaporate more slowly.
  • If the aerosol is stored at more than 25 ° C, the paint will be more fluid and the risk of runners increases.
  • Spraying at more than 25 ° C causes the solvents to evaporate faster and therefore the desired result may not be achieved.
  • Spraying on a surface that is too hot can result in a lower gloss level and small bubbles in the paint film
Enter the color code in the search bar at the top of the webshop, first indicate whether it is a RAL color (then the code will most likely contain 'RAL' or if it's a four-digit code) or a powder coating color.

If you can find the color, we can provide liquid paint in the right color. On the product page you can see how long it takes to produce the color!
